Tadka Egg Toast

This is my version of a good breakfast – eggs, toast and a delicious Indian tadka that we all can’t do without! I add a thick layer of cream cheese and spicy homemade techa (green chilies, peanuts and coriander brought together in a mortar and pestle) which is full of vitamin C and omega-C. the crunchiness of the curry leaves is a true delight!

The Recipe


1 toast
2 tbsp cream cheese
2 tsp techa – or as per your liking
1 egg
2 tsp vegetable or coconut oil
4-5 curry leaves
¼ tsp mustard seeds
¼ tsp urad white dal
Pinch of hing


Spread cream cheese and techa over hot toast
In a small frying pan, fry the egg to the time that you prefer – I prefer 3 minutes or so, because I like a little runny egg yolk
Then place it over the toast
Then warm some more oil and fry the mustard seeds, urad white dal, hing and curry leaves and pour over the toast
