We recently joined hands with a prestigious educational institution to design the menu and recipes for tiny tots. Now, cookies are always well loved and a great way to introduce yourself and gain a bit of love - yes, we bribe with cookies! So this recipe is just that - whole wheat and oats, brown sugar and raw sugars, warm cinnamon notes - making both kids and parents happy!

This dessert is a perfect ending to a heavy spicy asian meal. to be a day in advance is best!

This is my ode to family. A butter pecan cake reminds me of nostalgia, the times when large cakes were always on the counter, kids ate without worry at any time they wanted be it a whole fruit or a cracker with cheese. everything came from freshness and not from a package. the times when we kids played outdoors with everyone around and mothers had no idea that we had just gotten into a proper fist fight or scraped our knees from the bicycle. this butter pecan cake is just that. butter is slowly browned first to add a layer of flavour and then swirled into a buttermilk batter and lots of toasty chopped pecans. i add a drizzle of caramel into the batter bc my spirit needed more sweetness!

It was a Diwali party and a dear friend asked for a spicy ginger cake - and these kind of requests are what i live for! i used a homemade pumpkin spice blend which has dry ginger powder with allspice, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, black pepper. to that i added extra cinnamon, nutmeg and fresh ginger and this is now a cake i relish with a morning coffee!

This is a cake inspired by a children's story book which had multiple mentions of a sticky tea cake with notes of ginger and cinnamon and it instantly brought a vision in my head! So I made up this recipe which now has become a monthly bake especially for the kids - made with whole wheat flour, brown sugar and honey, black tea, ginger, pumpkin spice, and lot's of orange zest and a sneaky slather of orange marmalade! optional is the dark chocolate chunks!

The other day I was gifted a huge fruit basket with lot's of blueberries and with an upcoming birthday party I felt it was time for a blueberry cake! I made a large one, adapting this recipe from Smitten Kitchen and Love and Lemons. This cake is not so sweet, so if you like, up the sugar to 1 cup and a few more spoons in the streusel. Enjoy!

This is a last-minute creation when my niece came over and promptly wanted to make carrot cake. Now this child comes with a list of instructions, so we had to opt for whole wheat flour, but we drew the line at sugar, because brown and white sugars are very much our jam! We added some pumpkin spice seasoning, cinnamon and nutmeg for warmth, and the topping is chopped up pecans, some sugar and pinch of cinnamon for a nice little crunch on top! These muffins rise very well and perfect for after school snack or breakfast on the go!

Who says you need to get married to make a wedding cake for yourself? This is my treat for myself. I made a mini orange infused loaf cake, cut into two layers and filled with fresh cherries and cherry jam, and delicious thin layer of buttercream frosting. This one isn't too decadent in the frosting department, but just a right amount to bring the whole cake together. I indulged in a slice at each meal, and it took a total of 3 days to complete. Take my advice, bake the cake for yourself, treat yourself well and find back that childhood gleeful joy!

This is a recipe that uses up Christmas soaked dry fruits and nuts - the leftovers or for the last bit that you aren't sure what to do with! The combination of chocolate and ginger is a favourite of mine, teamed up with dry fruits, and heady spices - this one is quite heavenly!

This giant chocolate chip cookie for one is what you need on call for all moments of despair. Heck, even for celebrations! This simple easy, 5 minutes of work, 10 minutes of patience provides you a decadent reward of gooey, fudgy chocolate chip cookie. Add a dollop of ice cream if need be!

Tea and cake go hand in hand, so it is only natural that tea in a cake works beautifully! I am very much a classic lover, and tend to stick to English Breakfast Tea with a touch of milk and sugar in the afternoons. On some days, I go for 'builder's tea' as they call it, where the tea is very very strong and more than a splash of milk and maybe even a larger spoonful of sugar goes in. This cake is very similar to that, but with a little touch of lavender, because, you know, i can't do anything ever straight forward!

No churn ice cream is the easiest dessert you will ever make. I've never thought I'd be one to regularly make ice cream at home, but this one is rather good. I had some amaretto with me and decided an ice cream with it was very much in order! I also threw in a lot of roasted almonds and crushed lotus biscuits, a touch of cinnamon and nutmeg and vanilla extract. The ice cream keeps very well, and this recipe can be multiplied to double for larger crowds
