Black as the devil, hot as hell, pure as an angel, sweet as love. ~ Charles Maurice de Talleyrand-Perigod
The enveloping aroma of French pressed coffee at any given time makes life so much better. My house is filled with coffee aficionados and beans from all over the world lay in a special cabinet that I’d very much like to live in.
I am currently living on a chocolate and coffee diet, and tend to spit at anyone who feeds me something more substantial. I call it, being on strike!
So this small twist on the affogato accounts for a delightful lunch, and if you’re bad like me, even makes for an awesome breakfast. (I sense some mothers unsubscribing now…)
Traditionally hot French press coffee is poured onto a scoop of vanilla ice-cream. Today, I introduce you to Havmor’s Almond Carnival– a sweet vanilla ice-cream, with toasted almonds and a swirl of caramel. And I add some vibrant orange zest and voila, there you have it: affogato with a twist.
Sorry, this isn’t that revolutionary, but it is something that tends to touch the right spots on stressful days – the perfect strong bitter coffee, sweetness from the ice-cream, crunch from the almonds and fruitiness from the orange zest.
I’ve doubled up the portion many a times and been at a receiving end of a diarrhoea of insults from concerned ones, but when you are gorging on this, I can assure you, you won’t give a (beep) in the world!
Having said that, I am incredibly thankful to my family for being a pillar of stellar support. In the last post I say a big THANK YOU to all my readers. But I feel like it wasn’t enough. Every now and then, human nature surprises you with genuine kindness from so many new avenues. Being thankful is one the gracious gifts you can give yourself. I am incredibly thankful for being surrounded by wonderful people, my ability to move forward, to let go, and welcome the new.
BTW… we have some exciting news ahead of us, so stay tuned!
