Anti-inflammatory foods have been picking my interest recently. The seasonal changes, pollen, dust, hectic lifestyle, and winter binges overall impact our bodies and organ functioning. A detox is one thing, but choosing items that can be integrated on a regular basis places heavier importance in my diary. This shot is perfect to start the day with or as a mid-morning booster shot. Turmeric is a powerful spice with the ability to prevent premature ageing, reduce depression, manage arthritis and blood sugar, and act as a painkiller

“Turmeric is one of the most anti-inflammatory herbs in existence. One of the most inflammation-causing genes is COX-2, and scientists have worked for decades to discover a drug that can inhibit it. It’s not been easy, but believe it or not, turmeric has proved to be a strong and nontoxic COX-2 inhibitor. We love turmeric,” scientists explain. The bright yellow pigment and active ingredient in turmeric is curcumin, and it has powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Curcumin is also a team player, and in order for it to be absorbed by your body, it needs some help – black pepper and fat. The ingredients are designed to work synergistically together and provide maximum benefits.

Black pepper: First of all, freshly ground black pepper will increase the bioavailability of curcumin, which basically means that it makes it possible for the body to absorb the curcumin. Piperine is the key active ingredient in black pepper, and according to various studies, it’s said to help make curcumin more bioavailable.

Fat: the second trick is to add some fat to the recipe as turmeric is fat-soluble, which means it dissolves in fat, and it is believed that curcumin in turmeric is more easily absorbed when taken with fat.

This shot has coconut water to lighten the taste and add electrolytes for the body along with olive oil, cinnamon, clove and ACV. Regular intake will help reduce the inflammation in our body, boost metabolism and raise immunity levels.
