We always find a way to eat chocolate whether we are supposed to or not. And most likely, when you’ve been specifically asked NOT to, that’s when you really want it!
And it’s not just chocolate, but I very well feel like I can eat my way through a candy store! This usually occurs to me on the second day of a strict diet followed by an insane self-loathing for purposely throwing out all the bad-for-you foods!
Last week, my girls and I met for a much long awaited slumber party (yes, there are no age limitations for that!) and that means a table laid with all sorts of dips, snacks, sweets and lot’s of chocolate. But at least 80 per cent of the items need to be easy on the hips. It’s a universal rule that women are always dieting, yet can never seem to resist chocolate.
This instantly prompted me create a sweet dip, that can be had with fruits, yet in the pictures you will see no fruits, but this amazing European cinnamon biscuits called Lotus. At least the dip was low fat!
The base of this dip is thick hung yogurt, sweetened with honey and sinful melted dark chocolate with a good dose of vanilla. And that is it!
Sprinkle some fun sprinkles over it and you’re good to go.
This dip is versatile wherein you can flavour it any way you want. Use melted chilli chocolate for a Mexican twist, or add in a bunch of M&Ms or gems if it’s for the children. You could add in some cinnamon, ground ginger and nutmeg with the vanilla for a Christmas touch. Really, you can play with anything, as long as you like it.
Serve chilled, with cut bananas, mangoes, apples, pears… or slices of sponge cake, biscuits, marshmallows, pretzels… the list goes on and you get the gist!
