“Surround yourself with people who make you hungry for life, touch your heart, and nourish your soul.” Unknown

We’ve been on a soul-searching kind of route in recent times, so it’s only apt to continue on this road.

There are so many negative elements in this new world that we live in. It is obvious mankind’s attitude is getting worse as time passes. We no longer fear consequences, loss of lives or innocence. As our country is perhaps on the brink of war, I believe it’s time to take account of the real things that matter.

We take so much of our life for granted, and when the time comes to evaluate it’s sometimes too late. We surround ourselves with negativity, bad influences and trap ourselves into a vicious cycle to downward spiral. Freedom should never be taken for granted. Our ancestors have worked extremely hard to give us the beautiful free life we lead today, which we lazily wake up to without giving a thought as to what we can actually do to make a difference to the world. In the end, the world ending has less to do with border issues or a terrorist flying into a building but rather the horrifying attitudes of mankind and the lack of respect for other human beings.

Always remember, the best moments in life are free: laughter and joy the two most important components for a healthy being.

This is the ultimate breakfast bowl, that can be made within minutes and look unbelievably beautiful! This nutritious breakfast is ideal for all ages and is light on the stomach.

Acai berries are grown in the Amazon, and the powder is packed with vitamin Bs, minerals, fibre, protein and omego-3 fatty acids. Combine it with low fat yogurt, and top with beautiful fresh cut fruits, nuts, seeds and granola.

I use acai berry powder, bee pollen, chia seeds and honey from Sattvic Foods.

Poached Plum Oatmeal

Plum season is here and a poached plum is quite desirable in the cool early mornings. pairing with good old fashioned oatmeal, i love this hearty breakfast. i drizzle more honey than necessary to combat the tart plums, and the crunch of pistachios on top is the best!

Olive + Cheese French Toast

This is a delicious quick meal that can be had at any time of the day and perhaps one of my most favourite. Once I had an olive baguette that I used, and ever since, I’ve been adding olives into the egg batter. The dash of Worcestershire sauce is like a Welsh rarebit recipe – and adds a dash of oomph. Lots of herbs and chilies and then the best part is – lots of cheese on top – until nice golden and crispy! Eat as is, with sides of ketchup or hot sauce, some Dijon works too!

Pineapple Mithai Oatmeal

Oatmeal in a mithai flavour format? This is a real killer with the elderly who love sweets, but need a bit of fibre alongwith. I make the oatmeal the old-fashioned way in water with a pinch of salt, and for flavour i char-grill pineapple bits, add kesar, elaichi, badam and pista. If you like, add a dash of malai at the end and stir well! All the richness without the guilt!
